Liza Soberano ‘understands’ people’s reactions to her voice acting in ‘Trese’

LIZA Soberano isn’t done gushing over her experience playing Alexandra Trese in the hit Netflix series, specifically in the Filipino dub. Speaking to Pia Wurtzbach, Carla Lizardo, and Bianca Guidotti, hosts of Between Us Queens, the actress shared how she was both excited and afraid when she took on the role.

“I knew in my heart that I wanted to do it, but of course, I was kind of scared and hesitant because it was new to me because I’ve never done voice acting before aside from the dubbing that I had to do on top of my own voice for movies, commercials, and stuff. But that’s completely different,” Liza shared.

She continued, “In voice acting, you’re giving life to another character, not yourself.” Liza said she anticipated some backlash because she was stepping into a whole new “universe” with a massive fanbase.

“Just like any universe, like Harry Potter, Marvel, or the DC universe – their supporters are very protective of those universes and those characters. They only want the best for it. So I can understand if there [are] people who have opinions about my voice acting or about me even getting casted at Alexandra Trese…but I’m still so grateful and happy for the opportunity because I learned so much from it.”

In fact, Liza enjoyed the dubbing so much that she had separation anxiety when she was done, having spent two days – six hours each day – playing Alexandra.(Cosmopolitan)
