ILOILO – To avoid congestion in their quarantine facilities, the municipalities of Janiuay, Leon, Oton, and San Dionisio asked for a suspension on the return of locally stranded individuals (LSIs).
“We will endorse their request to the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force,” said Provincial Administrator Suzette Mamon.
The municipal governments did not specify how long should the suspension last but Mamon believes this would stretch for a few days.
“Para indi mag-overspill ang ila quarantine facilities kay wala na sila butangan. A pause for just a few days (is needed) para makapa-step down sila kag magbaton naman liwat,” Mamon added.
Mamon also said several other towns reported that their quarantine facilities were nearing full capacity.
As of Oct. 14, Iloilo province had 1,589 cumulative COVID-19 cases (322 active and 1,217 recovered), data from the Department of Health Region 6 showed.
Iloilo also had 50 COVID-19 deaths.
Meanwhile, Mamon said the provincial government is banking on the faster releasing of the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction for LSIs.
“Ginalagas naton sa level sang Western Visayas Medical Center sub-national laboratory nga makapagwa sang result para makapa-stepdown na ang iban,” she said.
The provincial government looks forward to the completion and operation of its own molecular laboratory at the Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan town and the Philippine Red Cross Molecular Laboratory in Passi City by the end of October./PN
