LSI travel ban in Victorias, San Carlos City approved

BACOLOD City – The Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) approved a resolution suspending the arrival of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) beginning today in the cities of Victorias and San Carlos in Negros Occidental.

Resolution No. 50 signed by RIATF Head Secretariat Christian Nagaynay granted the request of the local government unit of Victorias City asking for a seven-day moratorium on the arrival of LSIs and returning overseas Filipino workers to avoid congestion in its quarantine facilities.

The resolution also approved San Carlos City’s request for a 14-day travel moratorium for LSIs.

As of Oct. 21, Victorias City had a total of 189 coronavirus disease 2019 cases, 63 of which were tagged as active. The city also reported 87 suspected cases, and four fatalities.

San Carlos City, on the other hand, had 165 confirmed cases, 94 of which were active, and five fatalities.

In the whole Negros Occidental, a total of 4,099 confirmed cases were recorded, including 2,862 recoveries, 1,139 active cases and 98 mortalities./PN
