Major Bacolod roads closed for chicken ‘inasal’ fest

BACOLOD City – Public and private vehicles will be rerouted as parts of the city will be closed for the 2nd Bacolod Inasal Festival on Saturday.

Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) head Lieutenant Colonel Luisito Acebuche said they will implement road closures and rerouting in the city’s major streets.

“The areas along Araneta-Gonzaga streets to San Sebastian Street will be closed to vehicles from 10 p.m. on Friday until 2 a.m. on Saturday,” he said.

Acebuche noted these areas will then re-open until 1 a.m., hours prior to the start of the festivities.

By 6 p.m., the road closure at the event site will be pushed back from San Sebastian Street to Ballesteros Street in order to allow passage of vehicles along the said road.

Vehicles traveling north in Araneta Street meanwhile can execute a left turn along San Sebastian Street, while southbound traffic will pass by Gatuslao Street going to Rizal Street and into San Juan Street.

Southbound traffic also has the option of using Palanca Road all the way to Yulo Street and exiting in Araneta Street.

Acebuche said they will deploy around 100 traffic enforcers, while 200 personnel will also secure tight security measures at the event site.

“Some of the activities will start at around 1 p.m. on May 25, but the grilling will start at 5 p.m. onwards,” Acebuche said.

The city will provide a 300-meter long chicken barbecue grill from the Golden Diamond Jubilee Tower at the Bacolod Plaza to San Sebastian Street.

The beneficiary for this year’s festival is Bacolod’s senior citizens./PN
