Major city roads closed for Dinagyang ‘Pamukaw’

ILOILO City – Major streets will be off-limits to vehicles today for the 2017 Dinagyang Festival “Pamukaw” from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The “Pamukaw” is a parade of participating Dinagyang ati-ati tribes competition participants drumming up public support for the festival scheduled next month.

Public and private vehicles will be rerouted, according to the Transportation Management and Traffic Regulation Office.

The following routes will be closed to vehicles:

* from Luna-Huervana streets, La Paz district fronting Gaisano City up to Bonifacio Drive

* from Muelle Loney Street to F. Caram Avenue (Iznart Street), to JM Basa Street and to General Luna Street

* from Rizal Street to JM Bas Street

* from Quirino Bridge to Drilon Bridge / Barangay Rizal, La Paz; and

* from corner Barangay Rizal Lapuz (Rizal statue) to Quirino Bridge.

The “Pamukaw” parade will start from Bonifacio Drive (in front of the Iloilo provincial capitol).

It will pass through F. Caram Avenue then turn left to JM Basa Street and proceed to the Freedom Grandstand for a program.

The 10 ati-ati competition tribes are:

* Tribu Abiador of Asian College of Aeronautics

* Tribu Amihan of Mandurriao National High School

* Tribu Buntatalanit of Tiu Cho Teg Ana Rose Foundation Integrated School

* Tribu Dagatnon of Ramon Avanceña National High School

* Tribu Ilonganon of Jalandoni Memorial National High School

* Tribu Obreros of Bo. Obrero National High School

* Tribu Paghidaet of La Paz National High School

* Tribu Pan-ay of Fort San Pedro National High School

* Tribu Panayanon of Iloilo City National High School, and

* Tribu Salognon of Jaro National High School.

TRAFFIC REROUTING

All Jaro CPU / Ungka / ITGSI / Jaro Liko jeepneys from Jaro shall pass E. Lopez St. towards Luna St., La Paz then turn left to Huervana Street, then turn left to Rizal Street fronting La Paz public market where they can load/unload their passenger.

In going back, they shall pass Luna Street, La Paz and to E. Lopez Street.

Those from La Paz plaza shall pass Huervana Street, turn left to Rizal, La Paz then turn right to Drilon Bridge, proceed to Muelley Loney Street and up to the back of the provincial capitol where they can load and unload passengers.

To go back, they shall turn left to Quirino Bridge, turn left to Rizal, Lapuz then to Rizal, Lapaz and turn right to Huervana Street passing their normal route.

All Bo. Obrero and Lapuz jeepneys from Jalandoni, Lapuz shall turn right to Rizal, Lapuz straight to Rizal, La Paz then turn left to Drilon Bridge up to Muelle Loney up to the back of the provincial capitol where they can load/unload passengers.

To go back, they must turn left to Quirino Bridge and back to Jalandoni, Lapuz passing their normal route.

For Baluarte Derecho / SM City High jeepneys, all those from General Luna Street shall turn right to Quezon Street, turn left to Ledesma Street, turn right to Iznart Street, turn left to Rizal Street (University of Iloilo), turn right to Mapa Street, turn left to General Blanco Street, and turn left to Ortiz Street.

To go back, they shall turn left to Rizal Street and take their usual route.

Villa Mohon jeepneys, on the other hand, shall take their normal route in going to the City Proper but to go back to their point of origin, upon reaching Valeria Street they shall turn left to Delgado Street, turn right to Mabini Street, turn left to General Luna Street towards Molo district.

All private vehicle are allowed to enter any street of the City Proper except streets where the parade will be passing through and declared closed to all types of vehicles./PN
