BACOLOD City – He was stabbed to death for no apparent reason, police said.
The 18-year-old Rommel Diaz of Barangay Tinampa-an, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental sustained stab wounds on the different parts of the body, a police report showed.
Diaz was rushed to the Cadiz City Emergency Clinic and later transferred to St. Anne Medical Center where attending physician Dr. Jason Juele pronounced him dead around 4 a.m. on Thursday.
Diaz was stabbed at around 1:30 a.m. that day in Barangay Tinampa-an, the report stated.
Officers from the Cadiz City police station led by Chief Inspector Rocky Desear have yet to identify the suspects and the motive in the stabbing.
The incident happened minutes after the 20-year-old Cadiz City resident Eddie Rico was stabbed.
Rico, who sustained a stab wound on the right abdomen, was confined at the Cadiz City Emergency Clinic.
He was sitting with his friends at a park in Barangay 4, Cadiz City when a group of men attacked him, police said.
A bladed weapon was used in the stabbing, a police report stated without identifying the exact kind.
The police arrested suspects Oliver Agustin, 18, Carlo Enumerables, 18, Alfred Mahusay, 18, Jeremy Belasa, 18, and Nico Anere, 21, all residents of the city.
The suspects were then detained at the Cadiz City police station./PN
