ANTIQUE – A 46-year-old man was hacked by his drinking buddy in Barangay Mabini, Sibalom town.
Sibalom police said victim Nonito Mendoza, a resident of the aforementioned barangay, suffered severe injuries on his ear and left butt.
He was first brought to the Ramon Maza Sr. Memorial District Hospital but later transferred to Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital in San Jose de Buenavista town.
Police Captain Ephrime Udani IV, chief of the Sibalom Municipal Police Station (MPS), said Mendoza and Ernesto Near Jr., 30, of Barangay Igtumarum, Anini-y town, were having a drinking session at a farm house when a heated argument ensued between them.
This prompted the suspect to attack the victim using a bolo around 7:30 p.m. on April 26.
Udani added Near voluntarily surrendered to the barangay officials and was turned over to the Sibalom MPS for proper disposition./PN
