ILOILO City – A man tending his sari-sari store was shot by unidentified riding-in-tandem gunmen in Zone 3, Barangay San Juan, Molo district around 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20.
Sixty-year-old Alex Macabebe succumbed to gunshot wounds on his face and head.
According to barangay kagawad Fidel Estrebello, Macabebe’s son, the suspects were on a motorcycle and fled after shooting the victim.
Estrebello also confirmed that his father was released from jail only last year after being imprisoned for nine years for drug-related charges.
Police investigation revealed that nearby residents heard six bursts of gunfire. Cops recovered five empty shells and four slugs of a .45 firearm from the crime scene.
As of this writing the gunmen have yet to be identified and arrested./PN
