BACOLOD City – A 42-year-old man was shot dead by an unidentified gunman while walking along a street in Purok Calumpang, Barangay 1, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday night.
The victim, identified by police as alias “Jr.,” 42, married and a resident of St. John Subdivision in Barangay 1, sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the attack.
According to the San Carlos City Police Station, the incident occurred at about 9:40 p.m. on August 11, 2026.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim was walking along the street when an unidentified assailant approached him and shot him three times.
Jr. sustained gunshot wounds to his right temple, right cheek, and left chest.
The gunman immediately fled in an unknown direction following the shooting.
Personnel of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) rushed the victim to the San Carlos City Hospital for emergency treatment, but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the motive and identify the assailant.
A hot-pursuit operation is also underway for the possible arrest of the suspect./PN
