ILOILO City – A high-value suspect was arrested after yielding more than P4 million worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Quiasan, Balasan, Iloilo on Monday afternoon, Sept. 28.
Police identified the suspect as the 26-year-old alias “Ton-Ton,” a resident of Barangay Zaragosa, Balasan. He was taken into custody by the Balasan Municipal Police Station (MPS) following the arrest at about 2 p.m.
Police Colonel Bayani Razalan, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), said joint elements of the Balasan MPS’ Station Drug Enforcement Team and the Provincial Intelligence Unit of Iloilo Police Provincial Office purchased P9,200 worth of the said illegal drugs using an undercover asset from the suspect who was a “tokhang” surrenderer.
Follow-up searches resulted in the confiscation of approximately 600 grams of suspected shabu worth over P4 million.
Razalan revealed that the suspect was placed under surveillance for several days after receiving information from a tipster regarding the alleged illegal activities.
According to intelligence reports, the suspect frequently traveled between Manila and Iloilo to transport illegal drug shipments. The supply was allegedly intended for distribution across Iloilo City and various municipalities in the province, particularly within the 5th District.
