JEFF Manday came up with clutch conversions as the NOPSSCEA cruised to a 66-63 win over ILOPRISAA in Game 2 of the WVPRISAA Meet 2019 tertiary men’s basketball finals on Monday night at the STI-West Negros University Gym in Bacolod City.

With the score tied at 55-all midway in the fourth quarter, the Bacolod City native came up with a two pointer and a three-point basket to put the Negrenses on top for good.

Manday, who was drafted by the Che’lu Bar and Grill Revellers in the 2018 PBA Developmental League, was hailed as the Most Valuable Player for his efforts for the eight-man NOPSSCEA tertiary men’s basketball team.

“This is special because this is my first PRISAA MVP award but more important ay nag-champion kami,” Manday said. “This championship is also sweet dahil pinaghirapan namin ito, especially eight lang ang players namin.”

Also part of the NOPSSCEA tertiary men’s basketball team were Billy Rojo, Janjan Egat, Sean Sajo, Jloyd Licawan, Vladimer Pangantihon, Christian Montepio, and Reymart Carano.

The NOPSSCEA, however, cannot complete a sweep of the WVPRISAA caging championship as it settled for a runner-up finish to CAPRISAA in the secondary boys basketball finale following an 80-75 loss in the finals.

Led by Janwell Famaranco and Raffy Arguelles, the CAPRISAA cruised to its second straight championship in regional basketball in less than a month after previously winning the WVRAA Meet gold medal./PN
