
ILOILO – Torrential rains and strong winds brought by the southwest monsoon enhanced by Tropical Storm “Maring” battered 88 houses and 34 fishing vessels in this province.
Eleven of these homes were totally damaged while 77 were partially destroyed, data from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) showed.

The affected homes were in:
* Tigbauan (barangays Poblacion 8, Poblacion 9, Tan Pael, Buyu-an, Parara Sur, Namocon, and Baguingin) – 80 houses (71 partially damaged, nine totally)
* Guimbal – seven houses (five partially, two totally)
* Zarraga – one house partially damaged
The wrecked fishing vessels were all from Tigbauan: 10 totally damaged while 24 partially damaged.
The affected families evacuated to their barangay halls while others sought shelter in their relatives, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office reported.
Food packs were immediately provided.
Authorities were consolidating reports to determine the extent of the storm’s damage.
Meanwhile, there was no reported damage in northern lloilo, according to PDRRMO./PN
