Media Wise pulls off an awards coup in 2019, 2020

MEDIA Wise Communications/Muse Books went double global in 2019 with sterling wins in the United States-based International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Quill Awards in Vancouver, Canada and in the IABC Asia-Pacific Quill Awards in Wellington, New Zealand. The awards were for the coffee-table book “On the March: The Jesuits in the Philippines Since the Restoration,” a Media Wise Communications project in cooperation with the Philippine Jesuit Aid Association for the benefit of the elderly and infirm Jesuits. The book bagged the IABC Gold Quill Award of Merit in Vancouver and the IABC Silver Quill Award of Merit in Wellington to be given during the upcoming IABC Asia Pacific #Fusion20 conference in Wellington, New Zealand in March 2020. Both awards were for excellence in communication skills in the publications category.

The IABC awards committee in Vancouver stated that “[t]he book is well-organized, consistent…from the beginning to end. It flows well. It’s clear that [Media Wise] brought together the right mix of interviewers, writers, designers, and publishers to produce a high-quality communication vehicle.”

On the March chronicles the work of the Jesuits in the Philippines since their return to the country in 1859, recording for posterity their apostolate in the country as they brought the faith to the far corners of the archipelago. Ramoncito Ocampo Cruz and Manuel Paras Engwa are executive publishers with John Nery as editor.

According to Ramoncito Cruz, the CEO of Media Wise, the book actually won an unprecedented five prestigious awards in 2019: a Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) Gold Anvil, a PRSP Platinum Anvil, a Philippine Quill Award of Excellence, and the two international Quill Awards. Cruz pointed out that On the March was one of just five winners from the Philippines of the coveted international IABC Gold Quill Award in 2019./PN
