MEGAN Young opened up about being stricken with dengue, which affected her ability to produce milk, and that it took some time to fully recover.

In her Instagram broadcast channel on Monday, January 19, Young said getting through dengue was a tough experience, adding that she found out about her sickness when she was already recovering.

“I got sick. Little did I know, I had dengue!! Only found out when I was recovering na (I had itchy patches all over my body). All is good now, but getting sick affected my milk supply so much,” she said.

It took a month and a half for Young to fully recover, and she struggled with producing milk during the holiday season.

“I had such a struggle with my milk that during the holidays, when I got sick again, I decided to start weaning. It’s been sooooo hard weaning, but after slowly doing so for 1.5months, I’m starting to feel more like myself, less stressed, less snacking (nakakagutom mag pump!!), and less pressured,” she said.

The former beauty queen also reminded her fellow moms to be mindful of what’s best for themselves and their kids.

“Always remember that fed is best. We mommas know what is best for ourselves and our bebes,” she said.

Young, who tied the knot with Mikael Daez at two ceremonies in January 2020, welcomed their first child Leon, in May 2025.

She remains the lone Filipina to be crowned as Miss World, having received the title at the coronation ceremony in Bali, South Kuta, Indonesia in 2013. (Hannah Mallorca © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
