ILOILO City – A 44-year-old man running amok was shot dead in Barangay Bonbon, Lambunao, Iloilo on Thursday night, Sept. 14.
Aliendre Literato was allegedly suffering from a mental illness. He was declared dead at the town’s Dr. Ricardo Y. Ladrido Memorial District Hospital.
The suspects were Literato’s relatives, 62-year-old Quintin Luceño Leysa and 63-year-old Victor Sumagaysay Dago-oc.
According to Lambunao police chief Major Jojen Suegay, Literato first attacked Leysa with a bolo. In defense, the suspect shot the victim with a .38 pistol in the back.
The victim then ran to the house of Dago-oc, who tried to pacify the former.
Literato allegedly still tried to charge at his uncle, prompting Dago-oc to shoot him in the forehead and stomach.
“Nag–surrender man ang mga suspects. They claimed self-defense,” Suegay told Panay News.
Suegay added that sometime in 2014, the victim reportedly killed his mother after he failed to take his medicine.
“Ang family sang biktima indi na mag–file kaso sa mag tiyo kay paryente man lang nila,” Suegay said./PN
