PHILIPPINE Azkals mainstay Miguel Tanton ended his four-year partnership with the Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo as he is set to transfer to Ceres-Negros FC ahead of the 2019 football season.

Kaya Iloilo mentor Noel Marcaida confirmed the departure of his prized midfielder, who was with the football club since 2015 and was part of their 2018 Philippine Football League Copa Paulino Alcantara champion team.

ā€œMiguel’s departure is a big shoe to fill,ā€ Marcaida said. ā€œI think, malaking bagay kung nandito pa rin sa amin si Tanton, as you can see siya ā€˜yung free kick specialist naming sa team.ā€

The Filipino-American Tanton was just one of the four players transferring to Ceres-Negros aside from former Davao Aguilas FC players Dylan De Bruycker and Dennis Villanueva, and former Global Cebu FC veteran Angelo Marasigan.

The arrival of the four to the Negros Occidental-based football team proved to be timely following the departure of Filipino-German footballers Patrick Reichelt and Manuel Ott, and Jerry Barbaso.

Reichelt and Manuel left the Ceres-Negros after agreeing to sign with the Malaysian Club Melaka United and Thailand club Ratchaburi Mitrphol FC, respectively. Barbaso, meanwhile, is headed to another team.

The four new acquisitions will immediately plunge to action for the Ceres Negros when they begin their AFC Champions League qualifying campaign against Yangon United of Myanmar on February 5 at Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City./PN
