BACOLOD City – A 15-year-old boy was among three persons arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Escalante City Police Station (CPS) in Escalante City, Negros Occidental, on July 27, while the operation’s primary target managed to escape.
Police identified the main target only by the alias “Jam,” 39, of Sitio Tubod, Barangay Jonobjonob, Escalante City. He remains at large.
Members of the Escalante CPS Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) carried out the operation at around 6:19 p.m. in Purok Nabantuan, Barangay Balintawak.
According to police, the minor allegedly conspired with the main suspect and handed a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for marked money, leading to his arrest for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Also arrested was a 49-year-old woman identified only by the alias “Wela,” a resident of Sitio Nabantuan 1, Barangay Jonobjonob.
She is facing charges of obstruction of justice, slight physical injuries, and oral defamation in connection with the operation.
Authorities recovered four heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, including the buy-bust item, with a total estimated weight of 0.68 gram and a standard drug price of P4,624.
Police also seized the marked money used in the operation amounting to P500, consisting of one genuine P100 bill and four P100 boodle bills.
The arrested minor was turned over to the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) and a social worker from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) for proper disposition.
The other suspects remain under the custody of the Escalante CPS pending the filing of appropriate charges, while authorities continue efforts to arrest the escaped suspect./PN
