THE MITSUBISHI L300, arguably one of the most iconic nameplates in Mitsubishi Motors Philippines’ (MMPC) 56-year history, is making its way to foreign markets.
MMPC recently celebrated a production milestone as it rolled out the 700,00th unit manufactured at its plant in Santa Rosa, Laguna. Present during the ceremonies was Mitsubishi Motors Corporation CEO Takao Kato, and he announced the news regarding the L300 in his opening remarks: “I am pleased to share with you that we are now studying to export the ever-reliable and best-selling L300 to other markets.”
MMPC president and chief executive officer Mutsuhiro Oshikiri said it will be exported to other ASEAN markets, but he did not specify any countries as of the moment.
The Mitsubishi L300 is the newest addition to MMPC’s local production line, which also rolls out the Mirage hatchback and the Mirage G4 sedan. This trusted utility vehicle saw resurgence just earlier this year, as it was revived with a new Euro four-compliant 2.2-liter CRDi turbodiesel engine that generates 98hp and 200Nm of torque.
