ILOILO City – More policemen may be removed from their posts, and one reason could be their involvement in illegal drugs, said Chief Superintendent Jose Gentiles, Western Visayas police director.
“So I’m warning them. Stop. Concentrate on your job,” said Gentiles.
Nine police officers in the region, including four from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), were relieved from their posts recently.
It was not clear as of this writing if the axing of the four IPPO officials were over illegal drugs, but the five others tested positive for illegal drug use.
“Baka may susunod pa na ma-relieve na sangkot sa droga,” Gentiles told Panay News.
But he said he had no idea why the four IPPO officials were booted out. The order came from the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
The four IPPO officials were ordered to report to the Regional Holding and Accounting Unit in Camp Crame. They were Superintendent Richard Adonis Habawel, company commander of the IPPO; Senior Inspector Ariel Corcino, police chief of Pototan, Iloilo; Senior Inspector John Ryan Doceo, chief of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Team; and Chief Inspector Lorenez Losaria of the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit.
“Hindi ko alam kung ano ang reason. Basta kami nagbigay lang ng kanilang order galing sa itaas. But I’m sure whatever reasons, validated po ito,” Gentiles added.
Panay News sources, however, said the relief order against the four IPPO officials had something to do with illegal drugs.
Also relieved for turning positive in their drug tests were Senior Police Officer 1 Danilo Bantillo, Police Officer 3 Miguel Blancia, Police Officer 1 Raymund Bolivar, Police Officer 1 Mark Felicio, and Police Officer 1 Oliver Train.
PNP chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa has been constantly warning police officers involved in illegal drug operations, saying they will not last long in service.
He said police officers who are not with him in the war against illegal drugs should resign and “evaporate.”
“If you are with me, tapusin natin itong problema. If you are not with me, then you step out. You evaporate! Umalis kayo sa serbisyo!” he said.
Dela Rosa stressed that when the PNP fails to fight and eliminate the illegal drug problem in the country, Filipinos have no one to blame but the police./PN
