ILOILO City – Death premonitions: Do
they happen?
Distraught Andrea De Asis – who lost four family members during Typhoon Ursula
– believes so.
Andrea claimed that her 15-year-old daughter Rose Mae had premonitions of the day when she, her father and two siblings were swept away by the raging floodwaters at the height of the typhoon on Dec. 25, 2019.
Roughly three weeks after the tragic incident, the 36-year-old overseas Filipino worker revealed what she discovered on Rose Mae’s sketch pad: a seemingly harrowing illustration depicting her drowning daughter.
“Mahilig ni ang bata ko mag drawing. Sang na kita namon ang iya sketch pad, may drawing nga nalumos siya sa tubig,” Andrea told Panay News.
Aside from the drawing of her being drowned, Rose Mae has also several sketches that have water, rain, midnight and a woman crying on it.
“Natingala gid ako pagkakita ko sang drawing book nga puro masubo, ka dark, may mga tubig, may na lunod, ga ulan kag kagabihon ang,” the baffled mother narrated.
“Amo na guro ang mga signs nga may ma tabo sa ila,” Andrea went on, saying her daughter drew these illustrations weeks before the killer flood.
Andrea from Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, had earlier canceled her trip back to Kuwait following the tragic incident that claimed the lives of her family.
She was supposed to fly back to Kuwait on Dec. 26 but returned to Iloilo to attend to the burial of her husband Roel de Asis and their two other children, all of whom perished as Typhoon Ursula battered Batad town, her husband’s hometown.
The body of Roel, 41, their children Rosa Mae “Meme” de Asis, 15, and Rhiana “YanYan” de Asis, 3, were found hours after they were swept by a flash flood at Barangay Pasayan, Batad while they and several relatives tried to evacuate.
Two of their relatives, Elgie “Angga” de Asis and Ronilo “Dagul” Evangelio, both 12 years old, also died of drowning. Their bodies were recovered several hours later./PN
