DUMARAO, Capiz – A police officer surrendered to the police station.
Patrolman Mamerto Arellano, 34, of Barangay Sagrada Familia here shot and killed 43-year-old Renato Pampag, also of the said village, according to Dumarao police.
Police investigation revealed that Arellano and his father-in-law were walking when they were waylaid by Pampag. A heated argument ensued between Arellano and Pampag wherein the latter hacked the police.
The suspect managed to avoid hacking but he fell on the ground. The victim tried to stab him again but Arellano shot him several times.
Based on the autopsy result, the victim died of five gunshot wounds./PN
