NABAS, Aklan – As this was being written, a man who fell into the river in Barangay Laserna here remained missing.
According to the Nabas police, Romie Suan fell into the river around 10 p.m. on Oct. 27.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office launched a search and rescue operation but it was temporarily halted due to the strong river current.
From what police investigators gathered, Suan was on his way home from a birthday party together with two friends when he lost his balance while negotiating an improvised bridge. He fell into the river and was swept away by the strong river current./PN
