BACOLOD City – Mayor Evelio Leonardia has invited four national officials from various agencies to be the guests of honor and speakers in the 119th Philippine Independence Day celebration and commemoration of the 79th year of the signing of the Charter of Bacolod City.
They are Undersecretary Jesus “JV” Hinlo Jr. of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG); Secretary Guiling Mamondiong, director-general of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority; former senator Alberto Romulo, present chairman of the board of the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP); and Secretary Silvestre Bello III of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Hinlo, who is a lawyer from Bacolod, was the guest of honor and speaker at the opening of the Bacolod History Photo Exhibit yesterday at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) lobby.
The exhibit, showcasing 50 photos of the development of Bacolod through the years, will run until June 18.
Mamondiong will be the guest of honor and speaker at the 119th Philippine Independence day celebration on Monday at the Bacolod Public Plaza.
The Bacolod City government will hold an Employees’ Day on June 16 at the BCGC Lobby, with a Women’s Celebration on the same day at 2 p.m. at the BCGC MassKara Hall.
Romulo, an adopted son of Bacolod, will be the guest of honor and speaker at the Banwahanon Awards Ceremony on June 17 at the BCGC lobby. The Banwahanon award is the highest award that the Bacolod City government bestows on its citizens.
Bello, former peace panel chief negotiator and former Justice secretary, will be the guest of honor and speaker at the Outstanding Taxpayers and Outstanding Employees Awards Ceremony on June 18. This will be followed by a “Concert at the Park” at 6 p.m. at the Bacolod Public Plaza.
The Bacolod City government will hold a wreath-laying ceremony on June 19 at the statue of Dr. Jose Rizal at the Rizal Elementary School, in celebration of his birthday.
The activities from June 10 to 19 are in celebration of “Mga Adlaw sang Paghanduraw” based on City Ordinance No. 616. (City PIO)
