NBI, IPPO compare notes on Estancia killings but…

BY RHENJIE MARIE CALANTAS

ILOILO – Though the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) are separately investigating the Sept. 14 killing of three young businessmen in Barangay Villa Pani-an, Estancia town, they are comparing notes.

Both, however, agreed not to discuss their probe in public, said NBI assistant regional director Jeremiah Sargado.

Naga-coordinate kami…we have this agreement man para indi sila ma-distract. Sige sila investigate, kami ma-sige man pero indi kami anay maghatag statement para indi maka-create sang confusion,” Sargado said.

Friday last week the IPPO filed charges against 11 suspects. The NBI, on the other hand, has not wrapped up its investigation yet on the fatal shooting of Jan Paul Mark Bosque of Sara town, Chrysler Floyd Fernandes of Barotac Nuevo town and Mark Libao of Iloilo City, all friends of lone survivor Jevron Parohinog.

According to Sargado, they won’t issue a statement so as not to affect the prosecutor’s preliminary investigation.

Indi kami makahatag sang statement or anything that would affect the preliminary investigation sang prosecutor. Ang amon sina nga policy, especially kun somehow indi parehas ang amon investigation, ma-continue lang kami sina sang amon investigation until such time nga ma-resolve sang prosecutor ang gin-file nga kaso,” Sargado added.

The investigation will remain confidential while waiting for the result of the preliminary investigation, he added.

For his part, IPPO director, Police Colonel Noel Aliño, confirmed that Parohinog was included in the complaint, and also named as respondents Parohinog’s elder brother Jix; Michael Quiatchon; Michael Porras, and Benzen Llamado.

Quiatchon and Porras, in an interview with Aksyon Radyo Iloilo, denied their involvement in the crime.

Gapangabuhi ko ya sang ensakto. Indi ko ya kabalo magpatay tawo,” stressed Porras who works as a barker/dispatcher at the Estancia Terminal.

Basi may kapangalan ko nga Michael Porras. Pero ako ya inosente nga Michael Porras kag barker diri sa terminal,” he added.

Quiatchon, for his part, denied having connections with the other suspects.

Wala ko na kakilala sa ila kag sa pamilya Parohinog. Wala ko kabalo na sang mga gakalatabu,” he said.

Based on ballistic examination result, police said the gun slug found by the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) at the crime scene was traced to a gun registered under Quiatchon.

Police Regional Office 6 regional director, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, said the police investigation will continue to gather more evidence to strengthen the case filed./PN
