The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has issued a subpoena to beauty queen-actress Michelle Dee over physical injuries and illegal detention allegations filed against her and her friends, Rhian Ramos and Samantha Panlilio.
Dee’s legal counsel Maggie Abraham-Garduque confirmed receipt of the NBI’s subpoena, saying they will comply as necessary regarding the complaints.
Ramos’ personal driver, alias “Totoy,” previously accused the three women and their bodyguards of mauling and detaining him at the actress’ condominium unit last January. The driver said the assault stemmed from accusations that he stole Dee’s red envelope containing sensitive photos.
In a statement sent to Inquirer Entertainment, Abraham-Garduque, said that the newly issued subpoena is part of the NBI’s process, and Dee will submit a counter affidavit if deemed necessary.
“We will comply with the subpoena and will assess whatever evidence the NBI has gathered against our client and will submit Michelle’s counter affidavit, if necessary,” said Abraham-Garduque.
She also provided an update on the qualified theft complaint filed by Dee against Totoy, confirming that the respondent has already received a subpoena from the Office of the City Prosecutor of Makati.
“Yesterday was the supposed hearing for the submission of Alias Totoy’s counter affidavit, but he appeared at the hearing and merely asked for an additional period to file his counter affidavit,” stated the attorney.
Dee’s lawyer said that the respondent was given an inextendible period until March 3 to submit his counter affidavit; otherwise, “the fiscal will submit said case already for resolution.”
