BACOLOD City – Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson once gain ordered a halt to the entry in Negros Occidental of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) from Cebu, due to another noted spike in the number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the said province.
In a press conference yesterday, Lacson explained they have to order the halt as the quarantine facilities in Negros Occidental could be overwhelmed.
“We don’t like to be receiving positive cases. It’s very clear the epicenter is in Cebu, precisely why the President instructed Secretary [Roy] Cimatu to take care of the situation in Cebu,” Lacson pointed out.
Lacson said he has already sent the request for the temporary halt to the National Inter-Agency Task Force, adding he is also seeking to expand the travel ban for the entire Cebu province.
Earlier this month, Lacson also issued a temporary ban in the acceptance of LSIs from Cebu due to concerns over the virus./PN
