BACOLOD City – The Himamaylan City Government in Negros Occidental has partnered with a private firm to build cell site towers to boost mobile network signal and data connectivity.
Mayor Raymund Tongson and Kalvin Laurence Antonio Parpan, PhilTower Consortium Inc. (PhilTower) chief governor and external affairs officer, signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the P390-million project at the City Hall on Thursday afternoon, January 23.
The connectivity project between the city government and PhilTower together with Miescor Infrastructure Development Corporation (MIDC) will build cell site towers in strategic areas in the locality to address the problem of residents with limited cellular network signal and mobile data connection.
“In today’s digital age, where strong and reliable signals are a necessity for everyone, this project will have a significant impact on Himamaylan City. Aside from Himamaylanons, those in southern Negros will soon enjoy wider and faster cellular network and data connectivity,” Tongson said.
He added: “This multi-million project will also serve as a go-signal for investors. They will see that Himamaylan City is ready for continued development.”
The said project was granted to the city government following a recommendation from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA).
“This recognition highlights the city’s strong performance and compliance with the programs and initiatives of these agencies,” the city mayor said.
He also thanked DICT and ARTA for the project: “It will support our ongoing efforts to drive progress and development for Himamaylan.”/PN
