NegOcc posts 91% COVID recovery rate

BACOLOD City – With 5,644 people having recuperated from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Negros Occidental’s recovery rate for the viral illness touched 91 percent, data from the Provincial Health Office showed.

Since the enforcement of community quarantine in March, the province – covering 19 municipalities and 12 cities – had a total of 6,203 confirmed cases, which also included 369 active cases and 190 deaths.

Of the province’s total confirmed cases, 4,580 were listed as domestic.

There were 914 locally stranded individuals (LSIs); 294 front-liners; 274 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs); 77 authorized persons outside residence (APOR); 62 pending classification; and two listed in other provinces but tagged in Negros Occidental.

Most of the OFWs who returned to the province in the past nine months were from Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Hong Kong, Japan, Kuwait, Korea, Qatar, Singapore, and the United States.

Among the LSIs and APORs, majority received by Negros Occidental were from Manila, which totaled 413, and Cebu, 166.

The confirmed cases included 3,165 males and 3,038 females while the highest number of cases was in the 22 to 45 age bracket, totaling 3,177.

Some 4,278 were listed as asymptomatic while 1,478 were symptomatic. The status of 438 was considered as pending. (With PNA/PN)
