BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental’s Provincial Health Office (PHO) has recorded 608 cases of influenza-like illness across the province over three months, prompting vigilance among health authorities and residents.
According to the PHO’s report, which covered January 1 to March 2 this year, at least 11 of the 31 localities in Negros have reported at least one suspected case of influenza-like illness.
The municipality of Isabela recorded the most number of cases at 355, while Pontevedra followed with 145 cases and Salvador Benedicto with 62.
Other affected areas include San Carlos City with 52 cases, Murcia with five, Hinigaran with three, and Talisay City with two. Additionally, Bago City, Calatrava, and La Castellana each reported one case.
With these, the PHO has been closely monitoring the situation, intensifying its efforts in surveillance, early detection, and providing proper medical intervention to those affected.
