BACOLOD City – All seven congressmen from Negros Occidental have signed the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio.
They were Bacolod City Lone District’s Cong. Greg Gasataya, 1st District’s Cong. Gerardo Valmayor, 2nd District’s Cong. Alfredo Marañon III, 4th District’s Cong. Juliet Marie Ferrer, 5th District’s Cong. Emilio Bernardino Yulo; 6th District’s Cong. Mercedez Alvarez-Lansang, and Abang Lingkod Party-list’s Rep. Stephen Paduano who also serves as the caretaker of the 3rd District.
These seven were among the 215 out of 306 lawmakers who agreed to be named as complainants in the articles of impeachment against Duterte-Carpio that was transmitted by the House to the Senate on Wednesday, Feb. 5.
It was however reported earlier that there was no Yulo’s signature on the impeachment complaint.
But in an interview on Wednesday night, he explained that he arrived late at the Batasan Complex but just in time to sign the document.
Paduano also confirmed to the members of the local media here on Thursday, February 6, that Yulo had signed the impeachment complaint.
The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) posted on its website on February 6 that the House of Representatives impeached Duterte-Carpio, formally accusing her of a serious breach of the Constitution that could result in her removal from office.
The Vice President is facing accusations of culpable violation of the Constitution, bribery, graft and corruption, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes, including her alleged misuse of confidential funds of her office and the Department of Education, the PCO said./PN
