BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental is seeking a moratorium on locally stranded individuals (LSIs) until Sept. 7.
The moratorium is only for incoming LSIs, according to Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator, and that outgoing LSIs are allowed to leave the province.
Dr. Zeaphard Caelian, head of the Provincial Incident Management Team, said they have not shipped or flown LSIs to the province since Aug. 28 and during the entire duration of the “Timeout Weekend.”
He explained that the National Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases has yet to approve the moratorium requested by the provincial government.
“There are still too many LSIs waiting to return to the province,” Caelian lamented.
Diaz, on the other hand, revealed that the quarantine facilities of the province are not yet available for additional LSIs.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson earlier said quarantine facilities in the province are prepared in case there will be positive individuals for coronavirus disease 2019 in the mass testing that ended on Monday./PN
