Negrense swimmer breaks Palaro record anew

DAVAO City – Negrense swimmer Alexie Kouzenye Cabayaran continued to make waves in the 2019 Palarong Pambansa after breaking another record.

Cabayaran reset the Palaro record in the elementary girls 100-meter freestyle with her one minute and 2.25 seconds clocking, beating the previous record of 1:02.38 by NCRAA’s Jules Katherine Ong in 2018.

It was the third record to be broken by the Silay City, Negros Occidental native after earlier resetting the elementary girls 200 meter freestyle record and 100-meter backstroke records.

Cabayaran also had a gold in elementary girls 100 meter butterfly, another gold in girls 200m freestyle relay with Chrisella Los Banes, Allah Lopez and Kriztel Napallatan and a bronze in medley relay with Napallatan, Lopez and Dee Vianne Catedrilla.

Jenny dela Cruz also delivered two gold medals for the Blue Barons after ruling the 50 meters breaststroke and 50 meter freestyle, where fellow WVRAA swimmer Claire Calizo finished with silver.

Jeannelyn dela Torre and Chiara Regino had a gold-bronze medal finish in the 50 meter breaststroke. The two also had a silver and bronze finish, respectively, in 50 meter freestyle.

Ariel Alegarbes also had a silver in boys 50 meter freestyle, while Christian Montuya and Lucio Cuyong delivered bronze and the team of Richmund Soria, Guilliver Clemente, Earl Buncio and Joseph Lucio also had bronze in boys medley relay.

WVRAA Blue Barons also added four gold medals in athletics courtesy of Ilongga Alexie Mae Caimoso in secondary girls high jump, Vince Jayson Buhayan in secondary boys 200 meter dash, Alfrence Braza in 1500 meter dash and Althea Angel Bayalas.

In arnis, the trio of Chezka Borrero, Julianne Oberes and Jean Villadar captured a gold medal in the team double weapon and bronze medal in team espada y daga, while Lenar Avance, Allen Garrrino and Brix Jaque also had gold in team double weapon.

Roselle Pearl De Leon had a silver in individual double weapon and bronzes in single weapon and espada y daga, while Carl Reyes, Jeremy Tanedo and Kyle Tiron got a silver in team double weapon and bronze in team solo baston.

The Blue Barons also got a gold from elementary boys badminton team of Ryan Abela, Rey Nier Dalimo-os, Lovic Javier, and Zuriel Tupas and another gold from table tennis team of Dirk Atilano, Alain Dominguez, Shaun Jardinico, and Kristian Magallanes.

In taekwondo, Mary Angeline Alcantara, Allyah Eusalan Seth Hendrik Porquez and Jean Durana delivered a gold each, Sophia Grace Go had a silver while Iorri Enoc and Yanna Pe got a bronze each./PN
