Bacolod City – Provincial Board member Andrew Montelibano of the 3rd District of Negros Occidental tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Montelibano said he had no idea where he got the virus.
He had himself isolated after he was exposed to Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson’s bodyguard who later turned out to be a COVID-19 carrier.
Montelibano, who showed symptoms of the viral disease like fever, received his results on Thursday.
He was waitlisted for admission to the Riverside Medical Center in this city as the hospital’s designated COVID-19 beds were at full capacity.
Montelibano is the third official in Negros Occidental who got infected with COVID-19.
Mayor Jose Maria Alonso of Pontevedra and Mayor Marvin Malacon of E.B. Magalona earlier confirmed testing positive for the infectious disease.
As of Saturday, Negros Occidental recorded a total of 2,900 confirmed COVID-19 cases, based on the report released by the Provincial Health Office.
The data, however, did not include the number of recovered and active cases, and deaths./PN
