BACOLOD City – A son of the mayor of Calatrava, Negros Occidental and two others were arrested in a buy-bust operation on Luzuriaga Street, Barangay 6, San Carlos City on Wednesday night.

The police is set to charge with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 the following suspects:

* Nestor Era Jr., 40

* Rosalia Nemenzo, 60

* Chito Atienza, 46

According to San Carlos City police chief, Lieutenant Colonel Jesus Mesahon, the buy-bust’s target was Atienza.

He said Era and Nemenzo were arrested because they happened to be in the target’s house where the buy-bust was carried out.

A further search of the house yielded 13 sachets of suspected shabu with a combined weight of 15 grams and valued at P102,000.

Mesahon said Era and Nemenzo were not in the San Carlos City police station’s drug watch list, but the two would undergo a drug test.

In response to her son’s arrest, Mayor Marilyn Era said she had not been remiss in reminding the former to be mindful of his actions.

But the mayor acknowledged that her son was already of legal age and knew how to think for himself.

The mayor further said she does not condone wrongdoing and her son should face his actions’ consequences.

“Though my role as a parent is still there, and I will help him if I could since he is my son, I do not condone his actions,” Mayor Era stressed./PN
