BACOLOD City – The Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) in Silay City, Negros Occidental has limited its services to only emergency surgical operations due to the increasing number of its frontline staff getting infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to Dr. Mary Ann Maestral, officer-in-charge of the hospital, the public should coordinate first with TLJPH’s Emergency Room Triage or the Hospital Operations Department (HOD) One Hospital Command, prior to the transfer of patients to the hospital, if extremely necessary.
The capitol-run hospital is currently in the process of contact tracing and decontamination, Maestral added in a letter addressed to Gov. Eugenio Lacson.
Meanwhile, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said infected frontline personnel have been isolated at the Mambukal Resort Provincial Healing Center in Murcia town.
Data (as of July 5) of the Department of Health in Region 6 showed Negros Occidental with 19,123 cumulative coronavirus cases – 1,841 active, 16,940 recovered and 334 dead./PN
