BACOLOD City – Sixty-four farmers were installed and 25 others were given land titles in separate landholdings ceremonies by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in the northern part of Negros Occidental this month.

On Monday, DAR-Negros Occidental reported the installation of the agrarian beneficiaries (ARBs) in E.B. Magalona town on Jan. 24.

The said recipients can now work in the 10 hectares of land previously owned by the Precious Agricultural Corp., and formerly managed by the group of Abelardo Bantug III.

The two properties of five hectares each are both located in Barangay Nanca.
Tessie Pedrosa, municipal agrarian reform program officer of E.B. Magalona told the farmer-beneficiaries to make the lands be purposeful and productive.

Last Jan. 10, farmer-beneficiaries received titles for 16 hectares landholdings in Barangay Sicaba that were formerly owned by Arsenio Jison during the awarding rites held at the DAR-Cadiz City Municipal Office.

Ramon Abiera, municipal agrarian reform program officer of Cadiz City, said that the beneficiaries of the lands should be thankful and also to the services provided to them by the government.

“Always pay your land amortizations on time,” he added.

This month, there were a total of 66 farmers in two separate rites that were installed and awarded land titles by DAR-Negros Occidental in towns of Binalgbag and and La Castellana.

Eighteen La Castellana town farmers received titles for the 8.76-hectare property Felix Feria Jr. used to own in Barangay Cabagna-an last Jan. 16, while 41 beneficiaries received CLOAs in a property in Hacienda Jimenez, Barangay Mansalanao on Jan. 7.

The ARBs are now the owners of 26.27 hectares of landholding comprising 57 titles and sub-lots.

Meanwhile, 11.1 hectares of landholding in Hacienda Tilangkoy Gamay, Barangay Payao in Binalbagan were occupied by seven farmers on Jan. 15. The said property was previously owned by Consuelo Lopez and Jose Nadie Arceo.(With a report from PNA/PN)
