
BACOLOD City – NOPSSCEA’s Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts swept the secondary and elementary boys basketball crowns in the Negros Provincial Meet 2019.
The NOPSSCEA’s secondary boys basketball team survived a tough stand from Area 3 early in the game on Thursday before running away with a 77-62 win over at the Negros Occidental Multi-purpose Activities Center.
Holding to a slim 35-33 lead at the half, the NOPSCCEA broke away in the third period as they build a 59-48 edge after three quarters before widening it to its largest at 15 points late in the game.
Among the players of the Ronald Despi-mentored team were Kobe Demisana, Joshua Baldonado, Martin Beatingo, Jan Catalan, Nathan Jundana, John Mermida, Nelbert Minerva, Joseph Palaganas, Josh Luciano, Arkel Santer, Jules Wong, and Fritz Valencia.
The Thunderbolts, meanwhile, bagged its third consecutive championship in the elementary boys category after a 100-49 triumph against Area 3 at the Negros Occidental Teacher Federation Gym.
Bannering the NOPSCCEA team of Atoy Callora were Adrian Alagaban, Jan Apuyon, Shenlee Arriesgado, Joachim Chuatico, Thomas Gonzales, Robert Guinarao, Francis Lamasan, Santino Loretizo, William Malacad, Dave Recodo, Antonio Rojas and Frederick Uy.
The two teams are set to represent the Negros Occidental in the WVRAA Meet slated on February 15 in Aklan./PN
