BACOLOD City — Newly appointed Officer-in-Charge of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Col. Eugene N. Rebadomia has vowed to intensify the city’s campaign against criminality, illegal drugs, and unresolved cases as he officially assumed leadership during a turnover of command ceremony on February 9.
The ceremony, held at the BCPO Gym along Magsaysay Avenue in Barangay Singcang-Airport, was led by Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas C. Ibay, regional director of the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR). It was attended by Mayor Greg G. Gasataya, officials of the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), regional police officers, and BCPO personnel.
Rebadomia replaced Police Col. Joeresty P. Coronica, whose tenure was credited with strengthening law enforcement operations, improving police discipline, and enhancing community engagement in Bacolod City.
In his first statement as BCPO chief, Rebadomia pledged to sustain and expand ongoing police programs, particularly the intensified campaign against illegal drugs. He said the police force would also prioritize the resolution of unsolved cases and strengthen proactive crime prevention measures.
The newly installed police chief also plans to mobilize all personnel to increase police visibility in barangays, emphasizing that a strong and consistent presence is vital in deterring criminal activity and ensuring public safety.
Mayor Gasataya lauded Coronica’s performance, particularly in the anti-illegal drugs campaign, and expressed confidence that the outgoing BCPO chief has the potential to rise to the rank of police general.
He likewise voiced full support for Rebadomia’s leadership, noting that both the incoming and outgoing police chiefs are natives of Barangay Mansilingan.
During the ceremony, Ibay reminded police officers that while leadership may change, the mission remains the same—to serve the people and uphold the rule of law—anchored on the Philippine National Police’s mantra of fast, honest, and responsive service.
Coronica, for his part, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Bacolod City and conveyed confidence in Rebadomia’s capability to further strengthen the city’s police force.
Coronica has since been reassigned to the PRO-NIR headquarters.
As the BCPO entered a new phase of leadership, authorities reaffirmed their commitment to protect life and property, curb illegal drugs and firearms, and maintain peace and order for all Bacolodnons./PN
