ILOILO City – Iloilo City Police Office’s (ICPO) new director, Colonel Uldarico Garbanzos, vowed more intelligence-driven police operations to solve and/or prevent crimes in this southern city.
ICPO’s anti-crime efforts are already in place and only need to be “realigned,” said Garbanzos during yesterday’s turnover ceremony at the ICPO headquarters on General Luna Street.
A resident of Arevalo district, Garbanzos replaced Police Colonel Eric Dampal who was ICPO’s director for only a year since Feb. 20, 2020.
Dampal swapped posts with Garbanzos who used to be the chief of the Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDM).
Garbanzos said he would run after loose firearms and solve murders perpetrated by riding-in-tandem suspects.
The new city top cop would also secure more patrols for random checks in designated quarantine control points and entry/exit points of Iloilo City.
Garbanzos had served as chief of police of the districts of Molo, Arevalo, Mandurriao, and La Paz, and headed the ICPO operations section and the now-defunct Iloilo City Mobile Group.
He had also served the United Nations’ peacekeeping missions in Liberia and Haiti.
Garbanzos served, too, various posts at the PRO-6 headquarters.
