New prexy vows proactive municipal mayors’ league

ILOILO – Mayor Rosario Mediatrix Fernandez of San Enrique vowed to make the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Iloilo chapter proactive.

Elected chapter president recently, Fernandez said the league should be more than just a facilitator of mayors’ events and/or gatherings.

“I promise a vibrant, innovative and proactive LMP. It will be a performing LMP. Normally the LMP leadership facilitates conventions and accommodation tapos other government agencies tap it to disseminate information. I believe the LMP is more than that,” said Fernandez.

Fernandez got 20 votes in the recent LMP Iloilo election, two more than her rival Mayor Jett Rojas of Ajuy who got 18.

Forty mayors attended the election held at Casa Real de Iloilo on Aug. 2. Two abstained in the secret balloting.

Fernandez urged mayors to unite and support Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.

The other elected LMP Iloilo chapter officers were the following:

* vice president – Mayor Jett Rojas of Ajuy

* secretary general – Mayor Geefre Alonsabe of Alimodian

* treasurer – Mayor Lee Ann Debuque of Anilao

* auditor – Mayor Francis Amboy of Maasin

* business manager – Mayor Manuel Ganzon of Balasan

* PRO – Mayor James Esmeralda of Igbaras

* Board of Directors – Mayor Carina Flores of Oton, Mayor Macario Napulan of Miag-ao, Mayor Mark Palabrica of Bingawan, Mayor Nielo Tupas of Barotac Viejo, Mayor Jon Aying of Sara, Mayor Luigi Gorriceta of Pavia, Mayor John Tarrosa of Zarraga, and Mayor Ronaldo Golez of Dumangas./PN
