BACOLOD City – A rescued newly born baby boy allegedly found buried alive at the public cemetery in Pulupandan, Negros Occidental on Aug. 21 had died.
The local police confirmed the baby died at about 9 a.m. on Aug. 22.
Investigation revealed that at about 6 a.m. a 22-year-old mother from Iloilo delivered her baby in the house of her 22-year old live-in partner in Pulupandan. But they assumed the infant to be dead because it was not showing signs of life.
The baby was premature. The mother delivered it eight months into her pregnancy, police said.
They immediate took the baby to the cemetery and asked the caretaker to bury it even though they haven’t secured a death certificate yet and other pertinent documents.
Police said the caretaker buried the baby but at about 10 a.m. he heard it crying so he dug it up.
The Pulupandan police launched an investigation./PN
