ILOILO City – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has put to rest rumors about postponing the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) scheduled for December 1, 2025.
Comelec-Iloilo City’s Election Assistant II Jonathan Sayno emphasized that the elections will proceed as planned without delay.
“There is no chance of postponement,” Sayno confirmed in an interview.
His assurance came as the Comelec officially released the detailed election calendar under Resolution No. 11132, putting an end to speculations and fears about potential delays.
The timeline, which covers key activities from voter registration to the campaign period, ensures the smooth progression of the electoral process.
Voter registration will open from July 1 to July 11, 2025, allowing new voters to register, while also accommodating corrections to existing voter records.
However, the Comelec clarified that it will not accept transfers of voter registration during this period.
The filing of Certificates of Candidacy will take place from October 1 to October 7, 2025, marking the official start of the election process.
Candidates will have a 10-day window to campaign from November 20 to November 29, 2025. The election period will be in effect from October 27 to December 31, 2025, during which specific regulations will be enforced to ensure a fair and secure election.
Among the prohibitions during the election period are the use of security personnel or bodyguards by candidates without proper authorization, and activities such as gambling and fundraising through illegal means.
Comelec also outlined restrictions on campaign practices, including the illegal posting of materials and the use of government resources for political purposes./PN
