No confirmed nCoV case yet in Capiz – PHO

ROXAS City – There is no confirmed case yet of the 2019 novel coronavirus acute respiratory disease in Capiz, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) here said.

The PHO-Capiz made the statement yesterday following reports from social media that the first person under investigation (PUI) was reported positive of the disease. 

Provincial Health officer Dr. Samuel Delfin said the PUI, a 51-year-old man who had a travel history in Hong Kong and Macau from Jan. 25 to Jan. 29, is still under hospital quarantine and in good condition.

According to PHO-Capiz, all collected specimen from the patient were sent last Feb. 3 to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine in Alabang, Muntinlupa City for laboratory confirmation.

The release of the result is expected within 48 to 72 hours, it said.          

Meanwhile, Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras clarified the situation to the public yesterday as he advised them to refrain from posting, sending and sharing unverified information or reports and “fake news” through short message services and social media sites./PN
