ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has assured the public that no coup plot or destabilization movement has been detected in Western Visayas ahead of the country’s 127th Independence Day celebration, even as police units remain on heightened alert across the region.
PRO-6 director Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said intelligence monitoring and security preparations have been intensified to ensure the peaceful conduct of Independence Day activities on June 12.
“The commemoration of Independence Day is conducted every year, and PRO-6 is fully prepared for this year’s observance. We do not see any changes in our preparations, but our intelligence operatives and personnel are not becoming complacent and continue to gather information regarding issues taking place in Metro Manila,” Tuaño said.
Asked whether authorities had monitored any planned destabilization activities or coup attempts in the region, Tuaño said none had been detected.
“In fact, our intelligence-driven operations continue to focus on gathering information related to those kinds of operations,” he said.
The police chief stressed that intelligence gathering remains a crucial component of security operations, particularly during major national events that attract large public gatherings.
Tuaño said police personnel will continue coordinating with other government and security agencies to address any potential threats to public safety.
