ILOILO – Passengers of public utility vehicles (PUVs) are encouraged to adhere to the new precautions being imposed by the provincial government.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. yesterday introduced the 3Ps prohibition strategy – pagkaon (eating), pag-istorya (talking), paggamit (using of) cellphone – to reduce the risk of transmitting coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Passengers should refrain from:
* pagkaon – eating and drinking of beverages (soft drinks, juice, coffee, and such other meal or snack accompaniment beverages)
* pag-Istorya – unnecessary verbal communication
* paggamit cellphone – unnecessary verbal communication using cellular phone and similar devices
Defensor said some passengers remove their facemasks.
“Istrikto kita sa pagsuksok sang facemask and face shield sa nagasakay nga mga pasahero. Sundon naton sang istrikto ang minimum health standards sa mga salakyan,” said Defensor.
The governor also enjoined all municipal and city chiefs of police, local task forces and punong barangays to strictly enforce health protocols in religious gatherings, public markets, transport of passengers and workplaces and establishments.
“Ngaa gusto naton nga tagaan gid sang atensyon? Makabulig ini sa aton pugong sang COVID-19 surge,” Defensor said.
On religious gatherings, attendees shall only be allowed at 30 percent of the venue or seating capacity.
Persons shall also be seated at least two meters apart and seats and queue lines shall be marked accordingly for social distancing purposes.
Meanwhile, wearing of facemask and face shield inside and around (outside perimeter) municipal public markets shall be mandatory.
Regular hand washing is strongly advised.
Scheduled market days in all LGUs shall also be suspended. Only a limited number of barangays shall have access to the public market per day, as may be determined by the mayor (clustering of barangays going to the public market per day). Regular conduct of decontamination procedures in public market shall be observed.
On transport of passengers, Defensor reiterates the following:
* for pedicabs, only one passenger shall be allowed
* for motorcycles, only one back rider shall be allowed
* for tricycles, only one passenger in the side-car shall be allowed
* for jeepneys:
(i.) Passengers shall be one seat apart;
(ii.) Between passengers, there shall be a barrier made of impermeable and transparent material;
(iii.) Only one passenger shall be allowed on the driver’s row; and
(iv.) No standing passengers shall be allowed.
Under the observance of minimum public health standards in establishments and work places, these protocols shall be followed:
* No facemask, no entry;
* Only COVID-19 asymptomatic persons shall be allowed to enter, and health monitoring with thermal scanners and other similar devices shall be conducted before entry to the establishment or work place;
* Personal hygiene procedures, like hand washing and/or application of disinfectants, shall be performed before entry to and exit from the establishment or work place;
* In so far as practicable, one-way traffic is enjoined in the movement and flow of staff/workers and customers;
* If necessary for the work conditions, staff/workers shall be provided with personal protective equipment (PPEs) such as, facemask, face shield, goggles and gloves./PN
