BACOLOD City – To ensure food cleanliness and sanitation during the MassKara Festival, the city government has decreed that food businesses without health cards are prohibited from operating within festival locations.

City Administrator Pacifico Maghari III said City Health Office (CHO) personnel are consistently inspecting stalls, with a keen focus on those selling food.

“We’ve noticed that some food kiosk workers don’t wear their health cards. We’ve issued warnings to them,” stated Maghari.

Some stall operators reasoned that their health cards could pose a fire risk when cooking.

Dr. Grace Tan, who leads the CHO-Environmental Sanitation Division, said an agreement with MassKara organizers requires all food stalls at the festival venues to secure special sanitary permits.

The exact number of stalls that have adhered to this regulation is yet to be determined by the CHO.

Tan also emphasized that attendees of the festival reserve the right to request the display of these special sanitary permits and the health cards of stall personnel.

On another note, the price of chicken inasal (grilled chicken) at the Bacolod City Government Center, a primary festival site, has seen a decrease to around P120.

This adjustment follows after the city government was alerted to complaints of a steep pricing at P180 per inasal. (Additional reporting by Aksyon Radyo Bacolod)/PN
