BACOLOD City – The 303rd Infantry Brigade (303IBde) of the Philippine Army said there will be no ceasefire with the New People’s Army (NPA) this holiday season.

Brigadier General Orlando Edralin, 303IBde commander, said they will continue their anti-insurgency operations throughout the period to assure that the Christmas Eve celebration in Negros Occidental will remain peaceful.

Edralin also offered strong warnings against the NPA insurgents that they can run but they cannot hide.

He, however, added that the door for the NPA rebels surrender will remain open.

Meanwhile, the Roselyn Jean Pelle Command of the NPA based in the northern part of Negros Occidental claimed responsibility for the killing of three civilians in the town of Calatrava.

Edralin said the recent killings only showed the NPA’s barbarism.

He believes that they wanted to project to government forces that they are still a force to reckon with, even though figures released by government forces reveal that the rebels are struggling badly due to their dwindling numbers as well as increasing opposition among the populace against their actions.
