No major election-related incidents in Capiz – CPPO

CAPIZ – The Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) reported a generally peaceful and orderly conduct of the May 12 national and local elections, with no major election-related incidents recorded across the province.

“This is a reflection of the collective effort and dedication of our security forces and partner agencies,” said CPPO director Colonel Albert D. Tapulao.

Lieutenant Merry Cris Dela Cruz, CPPO spokesperson, echoed this, stating, “The 2025 elections in Capiz were generally peaceful,” highlighting the police’s commitment to upholding peace and order throughout the election period.

Since January, 16 individuals have been apprehended for violating the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban and 18 firearms have been confiscated, the CPPO reported.

To ensure security, more than 1,327 Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel were deployed across the province for this year’s midterm polls.

The CPPO extended its gratitude to its personnel, the Philippine Army, the Philippine Coast Guard, and the Comelec led by Atty. Salud Milagros Villanueva for their coordinated efforts.

The police also thanked the public for their cooperation in maintaining peace during the elections.

According to CPPO, the smooth electoral process was the result of strategic planning, including the establishment of Comelec checkpoints in key areas and the strict enforcement of the nationwide gun ban, which helped deter potential threats and preserve public order./PN
