CAPIZ – The provincial government here, under the leadership of Gov. Fredenil H. Castro, continues to strengthen its commitment to public health by delivering free healthcare services to barangays across the province.
On August 11, residents from barangays Casanayan, San Antonio, Balogo, and Dayhagan in the municipality of Pilar benefited from a wide range of medical and dental services through the Gugma Medical-Dental Mission.
The outreach, spearheaded by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) in partnership with the municipal government of Pilar, aimed to extend essential health services to residents who face financial or geographical barriers in accessing care.
Free services provided included medical and dental check-ups, chest X-rays, complete blood count (CBC), platelet counts, urinalysis, dengue NS1 testing, and HIV screening. Beneficiaries also received complimentary medicines to address their immediate health needs.
Gov. Castro stressed that the Gugma Medical-Dental Mission is not a one-time activity but part of the provincial government’s regular and annual health program, designed to reach all 473 barangays in Capiz.
“I am grateful to our residents who brought their families and children to avail themselves of these services. This is our way of ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible to every Capiznon,” Castro said.
The event also saw the participation of key provincial leaders, including Provincial Board members Trina Marie Ignacio, Blesilda Almalbis, and Emmanuel Billones Jr., as well as 1st District Provincial Deputy Administrator Enrique Martin — reflecting a united commitment to advancing public health and community welfare in Capiz./PN
