MANILA – There will be no special treatment for the four Chinese drug convicts tagged in the operation of a floating shabu laboratory in Subic in Olongapo City, Malacañang said on Thursday.
Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo made this remark after the four Chinese nationals – Win Fai Lo, Shu Fook Leung, Kwok Tung Chan and Kam Wah Kwok – were sentenced to life imprisonment and fined P5 million each in civil liability last week.
“We assure the public that no special treatment will be accorded to the four Chinese drug convicts as they serve their life sentence behind bars for operating a floating shabu laboratory in Subic,” Panelo said in a statement.
Panelo assured that families of the Chinese convicts that they will be given proper treatment in prison and they will be humanely treated.
At present, Palace is coordinating with the Department of Justice on the possibility of deportation to “rid” the country of foreign criminals.
Panelo, meanwhile, pointed out that the conviction of the four Chinese nationals is “clear proof” of the Duterte administration’s unrelenting war against illegal drugs.
He further stressed that the drug war “spares no one who violates our laws.”
In his third State of the Nation Address in July 23 this year, President Rodrigo Duterte vowed that the crackdown on illegal drugs will be “as relentless and chilling” as it was the day it began.
Despite protests against the controversial drug war, Duterte said it could not dissuade him from continuing his fight against shabu, cocaine, cannabis, heroine, and other illegal drugs. (With PNA/PN)
